Whatever Happened to Good Intentions?

I'm so frustrated right now at all the things I'm not doing. Like writing in this blog. Ideas for posts still come to me but I don't have the time to follow through, research, take photos, string thoughts together.

Of course the reason I don't have time is that I am doing heaps. Educating my son, caring for my family, a little gardening, a little cooking, loads of paper sorting in preparation for tax time, researching curriculum, keeping appointments, keeping in touch with friends IRL occasionally, trying to get washing dry without using the dryer, cleaning up after our rambunctious puppy and doing the everlasting housework.

The other night I went to bed thinking I was going to shut down this blog. I need to simplify (again!- I am a serial complicator. It comes of being interested in too many things and wanting to do everything!) There are already so many great, well-maintained and regularly updated blogs out there about simplicity, craft, frugality and home cooking. I felt I wasn't doing justice to the idea and to our followers and readers. But I've decided at this point not to do anything I may regret later.

Where it will go from here I don't know. Perhaps inspiration and a few spare minutes will arrive at the same time soon and I'll come up with something interesting to write about. Time will tell.

Life sounds very busy! It's not surprising blogging isn't a priority. You can always go into blog-hibernation- I blogged for a couple of months, then stopped posting for a year, then just started again when I was ready. People who have the blog in their readers will just get a nice surprise whenever or if ever you feel like making the occasional post.

Best of luck for all the good work you're doing at home!

I know your problem, the same as mine... it is that there is not enough hours in a day. Unfortunately there is not much you can do about that.

Family and other commitments come first to blogging. I used to feel I needed to blog regularly but I have relaxed myself by just posting when I can.

Don't feel pressured to blog, just do it when you can. If you don't get to that doesn't matter either because that means you are living your life as you should be.

For me this is a blog I read for quality, not quantity. I also struggle with life/blog balance and so would never judge if it had been a while between posts from you. I personally try to remember the Steven Covey theory of 'how to fit rocks into a jar'. Big stuff first (the important things in your life, family for eg) followed by stones and pebbles, then sand (all the less significant stuff, like TV or facebook) then you can pour water in. In the end you have managed to cram the jar with a lot of 'stuff', but knowing you started with what matters most.

Thanks for the encouragement Bellgirl, Tania and CK.
I just spent the morning in the garden- it is actually warm in the sun! Planted peas and carrots. All good.

There are never enough hours in a day to do all we want to do. I think if you started a blog that means you have a lot to share and want to share.

Rather than stressing yourself, just do it when you are able or set aside a specific appointment for it in your weekly calendar (only when you can squeeze it into the week of other higher priority committments). If you do that perhaps you will get into a groove and won't need to feel it is a burden.

I will look for your posts as I was intrigued by your blog name "We Knit, Sew, Bake and Grow". That is a great name and this is my first visit to your blog as far as I can recall :-) Have a great weekend.

I have often thought of closing mine down when I lose my blogging mojo but have found it best to just leave it alone until the mojo comes back and it always does! I am sure you would regret shutting it down, it will always be there waiting for you and so will your readers....take care and just enjoy your blog when you can xx

Have just recently found your blog, and I'm inspired by your honesty. I do hope you find the balance in life - but I also selfishly hope you keep writing your blog :)

You can only fit in so much each day. If you happen to fit in blogging then fine and if you don't then fine. Blog for YOU and don't worry about living up to everyone else's expectations. Do what makes YOU happy :)Whenver you post I will be happy to read it!
